The Paris Judicial Court ruled that TotalEnergies (TTE.PA, TTE.L) should include climate risks tied to greenhouse gas emissions from its products in its vigilance plan, marking a partial win for non-governmental organizations.
The court ordered the French energy group to complete its vigilance plan within six months by including scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, which refer to indirect emissions occurring in the value chain, and related measures. The case was adjourned to Jan. 21, 2027, according to a Thursday court document.
Notre Affaire à Tous, Sherpa, Zea and France Nature Environnement, as well as the city of Paris, launched the proceedings in 2020.
