Otter Tail Power has filed an integrated resource plan with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission for 2027-2041, outlining its strategy to meet electricity needs over the next 15 years, Minnesota-based Otter Tail (OTTR) said in a Monday statement.
In its plan, the company has proposed to add a 50-megawatt natural gas plant and two 50-MW wind projects to help meet electricity demand and maintain system reliability, according to Otter Tail.
The natural gas plant is expected to be in service in 2031-2032, while the two wind projects are expected to be in service in 2035 and 2040.
"The IRP also reflects projects in development following its last Resource Plan approval, including the 50-MW Solway Solar expected to be in service in 2026, the 295-MW Abercrombie Solar expected to be in service in 2028, a 75-MW battery storage facility, and additional wind generation," the statement said.
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission will evaluate the plan through a regulatory process that allows input from the public and key stakeholders.
Otter Tail Power is likely to file a separate IRP in North Dakota in 2027, while South Dakota does not currently have an IRP requirement, the statement said.
