Green energy major Orsted posted strong Q2 results on Thursday driven by a 23% surge in bioenergy heat generation, 23% increase in offshore output, and 4% growth in its onshore segment.
Bioenergy heat generation increased by 23% in Q2 compared to Q2 2025, driven by colder weather in April and May, while power generation rose 47% on stronger prices, and gas sales grew 10% from the DUC offtake contract.
In renewable generation, the offshore and onshore assets delivered 19.8 Terrawatt-hours in H1 2026.
The offshore business achieved 11.2 TWh, a 23% year-on-year increase supported by higher wind speeds and ramp-ups at Borkum Riffgrund 3 and Greater Changhua 4.
The onshore business delivered 8.6 TWh, up 4%, primarily due to the commissioning of the Badger Wind project in the US.
Renewable sources accounted for 99% of total generation, the company stated.
Orsted's primary focus remains strengthening its capital structure following the April divestment of its European onshore business, with the sale of a 55% stake in the Greater Changhua 2 project expected to close later this year.
The company is also advancing its 8.1 GW offshore construction portfolio, aiming to commission 2.5 GW across three continents in the second half of 2026, it said.
Additionally, in Germany, Borkum Riffgrund 3 is more than 99% complete and on track for full commissioning in the third quarter of 2026, the company noted.
