The US National Weather Service on Thursday said a portion of the northern Plains will experience elevated fire weather conditions, while the Great Basin faced a secondary threat due to the presence of gusty winds and low relative humidity.
The Ozarks and Southeast US are likely to face widespread showers and thunderstorms, with risks of isolated flash flooding through Friday.
Meanwhile, Northwest US is likely to encounter scattered severe storms and heavy rain, the agency said.
The NWS issued a red flag warning early Thursday for Montana's Plentywood, Glasgow, Sidney, Circle, Terry, and Glendive. MDU Resources (MDU) unit Montana-Dakota Utilities is among the major service providers in these places.
North Dakota's Crosby, Williston, Dickinson, and Bowman, which also falls under the service area of Montana-Dakota Utilities, was placed under a similar warning.
Affected areas in Utah included Vernal, Green River, Moab, Capitol Reef National Park, Hanksville, Monticello, Blanding, Bluff, Escalante, Zion National Park, and St. George. PacifiCorp's Rocky Mountain Power is the primary service provider in the state.
In Arizona, a red flag warning was raised for Flagstaff, Winslow, Show Low, St Johns, and areas near Grand Canyon Village and Chinle, primarily served by Pinnacle West Capital (PNW) subsidiary Arizona Public Service Company.
Also placed under a red flag warning watch were Colorado's Cortez, Nucla, Montrose, and Durango. Xcel Energy (XEL) and Black Hills unit (BKH) Black Hills Energy are the primary electricity providers in the state.
The NWS issued a flood warning for West Virginia's Clarksburg, Elkins, Fairmont and areas near Sutton, primarily served by FirstEnergy unit Mon Power.
Flood warnings were also issued for certain pockets of Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Washington.
Meanwhile, flash flood warnings were raised for small pockets in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas.
