Nvidia's GB300 Chips Accessed by China's Moonshot to Train AI Model, White House Official Says

Nvidia's (NVDA) GB300 chips were accessed by Beijing-based artificial intelligence startup Moonshot likely to train its artificial intelligence models, according to Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Moonshot "acquired GB300-equipped servers and has accessed GB300s in Thailand, likely to train its AI models," Kratsios said Wednesday in a post on X.

Kratsios further said that Moonshot distilled Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic's Fable for the development of its K3 model by developing a sophisticated internal platform to conduct large scale distillation against US models, which allowed them to quickly switch between multiple methods of access to avoid detection.

The White House, Nvidia and Anthropic did not immediately respond to' requests for comment.
