Turkish nuclear-technology company, Nuclean Temiz Enerji Data ve Surdurulebilirlik Teknolojileri, and Canadian investment group Portland Holdings Investco Limited signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on the development of Turkey's nuclear-energy ecosystem, Portland said in a statement on Thursday.
The agreement, signed at the Nuclear Power Plants and Energy Summit in Istanbul, was supported by the Nuclear Industry Association of Turkey.
Under the non-binding MOU, the parties said they will explore cooperation in human capital development and training, technology engagement and awareness, industrial participation and supply chain development, and dialogue on potential investment and financing opportunities, subject to future agreements and regulatory approvals.
Nuclean operates as a technology-neutral platform that connects technology providers, industrial suppliers, investors, off-takers, and engineering, procurement, and construction participants for small modular reactors and other advanced nuclear technologies in Turkey.
Portland Holdings said it would provide access to Canada's nuclear ecosystem, including industry partners, universities, national laboratories, utilities and engineering firms, and contribute expertise in structuring and advancing large-scale projects.
The companies said the cooperation is intended to support Turkey's longer-term nuclear ambitions by facilitating dialogue, industrial partnerships and knowledge sharing between Turkish and Canadian stakeholders.
