Nissan Motor's (TYO:7201) global sales fell about 17% year over year to 219,495 units in July, according to a statement on Friday.
Sales in China plunged 59% to 23,677 vehicles, while Japan sales rose 3.6% to 35,872 units.
Sales in the U.S. edged up 2.3% to 75,926 vehicles.
Global production dropped 16% to 188,130 units, driven by a 22% decline in production outside Japan.
Shares of the automaker rose about 3% in recent trade.
Kawan Renergy (KLSE:KENERGY) unit Magenko Renewables (Ipoh) received approval from the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia for a 2.5-megawatt biomass power plant under the 2026 Feed-in Tariff system, according to a Thursday Malaysian bourse filing.The project has an installed capacity of 2.5 megawatts, and net export capacity of 2 megawatts. The Feed-in Tariff is scheduled to commence on Aug. 17, 2029, and run for 21 years.The basic tariff is 0.38 ringgit per kilowatt-hour for the first 10 years, and 0.288 ringgit per kilowatt-hour for the remaining period.The project will be financed through IPO proceeds and bank financing, it said.
SBI Holdings (TYO:8473) plans to purchase a 20% stake in Indonesia-based online brokerage Ajaib Group for $270 million by the end of August, making the latter an equity-method affiliate, Nikkei Asia reported Friday.Ajaib offers online brokerage, foreign-exchange margin trading, cryptocurrency and asset management services.
