Nishimatsuya Chain (TYO:7545) logged a 5.9% year-on-year increase in net sales for August, on strong summer clothing sales, according to a Friday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Customer traffic rose 6.6%, while average spend per customer slipped 0.7%.
Existing store sales gained 2.6%, with traffic increasing by 2.4% and average spending increased 0.1%.
The children's clothing and childcare goods retailer operated 1,193 stores as of August 20, after adding six stores and closing three during the month.
