Nio Strategic Metals (NIO.V) on Friday provided an operational update as it moves to advance development of the Oka niobium project.
The company said it has assembled a team of mining engineers, environmental scientists and niobium market participants to ensure the viability of its mining plan for the Quebec project.
Nio tapped DRA Global to provide a general assessment of the water balance of the area. GHD and the Table Jamesienne de concertation miniere will assist the company with all required environmental authorizations at the local and governmental levels.
Guy Arbour and Terra Consulting will assist with environment and public safety, while CAMET was retained as marketer.
"The essential priority for Nio has been to implement a holistic technical program to ensure the historical mining works are securely disposed of into a structured program to reduce risk and create value for all," President and Chief Operating Officer Bruno Dumais said.
Its shares eased $0.01 or 4.4% to $0.215 yesterday.
