The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority launched a $300 million renewable energy fund to expand energy access nationwide, it said Monday in a post on X.
The Nigeria Distributed Renewable Energy Fund will move into active capital deployment, targeting off-grid and distributed renewable energy projects for underserved communities and businesses, the authority said.
The initiative brings together the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Africa50, Sustainable Energy for All, the International Solar Alliance and the World Bank to scale clean energy investment.
The fund aligns with Nigeria's energy access priorities and the World Bank and African Development Bank's Mission 300 ambition, while supporting last-mile access and economic opportunities.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Aminu Umar-Sadiq said the launch shows investors and development partners that Nigeria's distributed renewable energy market can attract capital and operate at scale.
