New Zealand Shares Rise, Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust Reports Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing as Top Portfolio Holding

New Zealand shares ended higher on Tuesday while most Asian markets saw gains after Monday's Wall Street rally.

The S&P/NZX 50 rose 0.39%, or 54.28 points, to close at 13,875.48.

Overnight, the Nasdaq Composite added 2.3%, the S&P 500 gained 1.5%, and the Dow Jones rose 0.7%.

In domestic news, New Zealand's Electricity Authority is urging distributors to be mindful of consumer impacts as they adjust pricing ahead of the completion of the government's phase-out of low fixed charge regulations.

Also, New Zealand employment confidence rose 3.2 points in the September quarter to 86.3 from 83.1 in the June quarter, only slightly reversing the sharp 12.5-point decline in the previous quarter, according to the Westpac-McDermott Miller Employment Confidence index.

Further, New Zealand's central bank waited too long to tweak monetary policy after its initial response to the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a stronger-than-expected economic recovery, causing the economy to overheat to a historically extreme degree, according to an independent review published by the Finance Ministry.

In corporate news, Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust (NZE:TEM) reported Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing as its top portfolio holding by market value as of Aug. 31, with ownership of about 10.2 million shares worth 572.1 million pounds sterling.

Auckland International Airport (ASX:AIA, NZE:AIA) plans to add or replace 10 kilometers of baggage conveyor equipment as part of an effort to modernize the original baggage handling system at Auckland Airport in New Zealand.

Goodman Group Receives 2 Shareholder Resolutions for Upcoming Annual General Meeting

Goodman Group (ASX:GMG) received two shareholder resolutions for consideration at its Nov. 19 annual general meeting, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.One of the resolutions calls on the company to disclose its framework for identifying and managing material environmental and social-license risks related to data center development close to residential areas, schools, or environmentally sensitive land.The second one seeks an amendment to Goodman Group's constitution to permit advisory resolutions, per the filing.Both resolutions are advisory and do not bind the company's directors.Its shares gained past 1% in recent Tuesday trade.
