New Zealand shares ended higher on Thursday while most Asian shares saw gains despite Thursday's lower Wall Street close.
The S&P/NZX 50 Index rose 0.38% or 52.84 points to close at 13,972.66.
Overnight, the S&P 500 fell 0.9%, the Nasdaq Composite lost 1%, and the Dow Jones decreased 1.3%.
In domestic news, New Zealand goods imports rose by NZ$2.1 billion in July to NZ$9.3 billion compared with the same period last year, according to a report released by Stats NZ.
Also, credit card spending in New Zealand increased by 1.4% month on month to NZ$4.45 billion in July after a 1.2% decrease in the previous month, while credit card balances rose 0.3% to NZ$5.88 billion, data from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand showed.
Further, expectations for New Zealand's one-year-ahead annual consumer price index (CPI) growth fell to 2.99% in the September quarter, according to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's (RBNZ) survey.
In corporate news, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare (ASX:FPH, NZE:FPH) now expects a fiscal 2027 net profit after tax (NPAT) of about NZ$525 million to NZ$565 million, and operating revenue of about NZ$2.47 billion to NZ$2.57 billion.
Manuka Resources (ASX:MKR, NZE:MKR) restarted gold production at its Wonawinta processing facility in New South Wales, marking the company's return to precious metals production.
