New Zealand shares remained flat on Tuesday while Asian shares saw a broad-based decline amid a sell-off in Asian chip stocks.
The S&P/NZX 50 Index was little changed to close at 13,861.93.
On the domestic front, the seasonally adjusted number of filled jobs across New Zealand industries rose 0.1%, or 2,728 jobs, month on month to 2.4 million in June, following a 0.2% increase in the previous month, data from Stats NZ showed.
Also, the number of enterprises in New Zealand hit 603,549 in June, up from 598,137 in May, according to data by Stats NZ.
Further, the cost of living for the average New Zealand household rose 3.2% in the 12 months to the June quarter, as measured by the household living-costs price indexes, according to data from Stats NZ.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's unemployment rate is expected to rise 0.2 percentage points to 5.5% in the June quarter after some firms paused hiring in the wake of heightened global uncertainty and an oil price shock, according to a Tuesday note by ANZ.
In corporate news, Bremworth (NZE:BRW) said Craig Woolford has been appointed as its permanent chief executive after serving in the role on an interim basis since April 2025.
Black Pearl Group (NZE:BPG, ASX:BPG) reported fiscal first quarter annual recurring revenue (ARR) of NZ$27.2 million, up 95% year on year.
