New Zealand shares ended lower on Friday as all Asian markets fell due to rising oil prices fueling inflation risks.
The S&P/NZX 50 fell 0.95% or 130.68 points to close at 13,580.33.
Brent crude rose to about $107 in recent Friday trade as the Middle East conflict continued to pressure global oil supply.
Overnight, the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.7%, the S&P 500 lost 0.6%, and the Dow Jones decreased 0.6%.
In domestic news, New Zealand's manufacturing sector continued to expand in August, although growth slowed from July as employment stalled at the breakeven level, BusinessNZ.
A developing El Niño climate phenomenon pattern threatens an increased risk of drought in many parts of New Zealand, with the main economic risk being to pasture-based agriculture, Westpac said in a report.
In corporate news, The Bankers Investment Trust's (NZE:BIT) unaudited net asset value was 1.607 pounds sterling per share as of Wednesday.
