Neogenyx Fuels, a developer of advanced fuel systems, said on Thursday that it was set to join Adam Land and Cattle to break ground on its first agricultural renewable natural gas project in Nebraska.
The project will turn agricultural manure into pipeline-quality RNG and is expected to produce 1.2 million British thermal units of gas annually through anaerobic digestion. The output will be used as a low-carbon transportation fuel source, the company said in its statement.
While producing 4,400 standard cubic feet per minute of biogas, the project is also expected to save about 63,700 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually, which it said was equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 63,800 acres of US forest land.
The company said projects such as the Nebraska facility could eventually create export opportunities for US agricultural producers as the global shipping industry seeks lower-carbon fuels.
