Natural gas edged down early on Monday as forecasts see heat continuing for much of the U.S., though the big markets of the northeast will see cooler than seasonal weather.
Gas for August delivery was last seen down $0.02 to $2.89 per million British thermal units.
Long-term forecasts from the National Weather Service expects most states to see hotter than seasonal temperatures over its six to 10 day outlook, though the northeast states will see seasonal or cooler weather over the period.
However supply remains robust. The Energy Information Administration last week reported stocks of the fuel stood at 3.02-trillion cubic feet, 6.4% higher than the five-year average.
