Mitsubishi Electric (TYO:6503) and Sony Group's (TYO:6758) Sony Semiconductor Solutions agreed to establish Advanced Vision Solutions, a joint venture that will focus on automation in the manufacturing industry, according to a Wednesday company release.
Under the venture, the companies will develop vision-sensor solutions that enable AI-based analysis of visual data for factory automation.
Mitsubishi Electric will hold a 60% stake in the venture, while Sony Semiconductor will own the remaining 40%.
The joint venture is scheduled to begin operations in October, subject to regulatory approvals.
