Mitsubishi to Boost Stake in Ayala to 20% With 120 Billion Yen Investment

Mitsubishi (TYO:8058) has signed a definitive agreement to invest about 120 billion yen to acquire additional shares in Philippine conglomerate Ayala (PSE:AC), according to a press release on Monday.

The deal, expected to close within fiscal 2026 pending regulatory approvals, will raise Mitsubishi's voting interest in Ayala to 20%.

Building on a 2024 alliance that included a joint investment in GCash operator Mynt, the two companies aim to deepen collaboration in consumer-facing businesses, including financial services, telecommunications, and retail, alongside real estate and energy ventures.
