Mesoblast Completes Patient Treatment in Phase 3 Chronic Low Back Pain Trial; Shares Gain 4%

Mesoblast (ASX:MSB) completed patient treatment in a phase 3 trial of rexlemestrocel-L for chronic low back pain associated with the inflammatory condition of degenerative disc disease, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

The number of patients treated increased to 350 from 300 due to "strong demand from trial investigators to have their patients enrolled," the company said.

The study's primary endpoint aims to confirm the durable pain reduction at 12 months from a single intradiscal injection of rexlemestrocel-L seen in an earlier trial. Top-line results are due in mid-2027 after the last treated patient completes the 12-month follow-up.

Mesoblast shares gained about 4% in recent Monday trade.
