Mesoblast (ASX:MSB) achieved its target to treat at least 300 patients in a phase 3 trial of rexlemestrocel-L for chronic lower back pain linked to degenerative disc disease, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.
The trial's primary endpoint targets a significant difference in the reduction of lower back pain between rexlemestrocel-L and sham controls after 12 months of treatment, while secondary endpoints include improvements in function, quality of life, and a halting of pain medications.
Rexlemestrocel-L obtained regenerative medicine advanced therapy designation from the US Food and Drug Administration, and the trial's topline results are due in mid-2027, the company said.
Mesoblast shares fell past 1% in recent Tuesday trade.
