Merck (MRK) said Friday the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use has recommended the approval of Keytruda, in combination with Padcev, to treat a type of bladder cancer.
The pharmaceutical company said the treatment is preoperative, which then continues after radical cystectomy as supportive treatment for adults with resectable muscle-invasive bladder cancer. The treatment is indicated for patients who are ineligible for cisplatin-containing chemotherapy.
Shares of Merck were up more than 3% pre-bell.
