Marmota (ASX:MEU) said extensional drilling at its Greenewood prospect in South Australia's Gawler Craton Gold Project intersected numerous zones with favorable geology almost identical to zones that previously yielded strong gold intersections, prompting to further extend the program, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
The company said drilling is now expected to be completed in early October, with the extension covering both the northern zone and the southern Mainwood zone.
While Marmota's normal practice is to report assays only once drilling is complete, the company said it expects to report first assays as early as next week given the substantial size of the program, with a series of assay disclosures anticipated over the coming weeks as results arrive for each zone.
The company's shares surged 14% in recent Wednesday trade.
