Volumes in the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve fell to their lowest since July 2024 at 374 million barrels after the shipment of a record 9.9 million barrels withdrawn last week, Reuters reported Monday, citing Department of Energy data.
The Donald Trump-led US government has committed to release 172 million barrels of oil from the reserves as part of efforts to stabilize oil prices amid volatility since the start of the Iran war at the end of February.
Last month, the energy department offered around 92.5 million barrels of sweet and sour crudes from its four coastal storage caverns in Texas and Louisiana.
Last week saw the allocation of 53.33 million barrels, the most so far in 2026, the report said.
