The U.S. Federal Communications Commission is looking to restrict imports of inverters connecting solar projects and batteries to the grid amid concerns China could use the devices to interrupt power supplies, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing five people with knowledge of the matter.
The FCC's rules could go live as early as this year and would apply to new models, the report said.
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump rekindled the proposal after the European Union made a similar decision, Reuters said.
