U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Brian Mast warned that expanded artificial intelligence trade with China could undermine U.S. national interests, The South China Morning Post reported Wednesday.
He said commercial gains for American firms may ultimately weaken the U.S.' global edge, according to the report.
Mast compared AI technology to advanced fighter jets that the U.S. refuses to sell to rivals such as China, Russia, Iran and North Korea, saying America must stay technologically ahead, the SCMP wrote.
