Ukraine and Japan will establish a multimillion-dollar joint fund to finance purchases of industrial equipment from Japanese firms, including Hitachi (TYO:6501), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (TYO:7011) and Toshiba, Nikkei Asia reported on Tuesday, citing Ukrainian Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksii Sobolev.
Sobolev said the initiative offers a key partnership opportunity to boost production and exports through advanced equipment, according to the report.
Details of the fund are expected to be announced at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Poland this week, the news daily said.
Ukrainian companies are already discussing procurement volumes and contract terms with Japanese suppliers as part of efforts to support the recovery of the country's energy and industrial sectors, the report said.
