President Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that the US was engaged in backchannel talks for peace with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, without involving mediators and Iranian political officials, Fox News reported Monday, citing a phone interview with Trump.
Trump said that while the IRGC officials were "good poker players," they were dying and he was in no hurry or on a time schedule. He further added that Iran should wave the white flag.
"The number one goal is, and always will be, that Iran cannot have, in any way, shape, or form, a nuclear weapon," he had earlier said in a post on Truth Social earlier in the day.
According to the Fox report, Trump warned that the US would bomb Oman if it "gets in the way" of negotiations with Iran.
