U.S. President Donald Trump invited Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, to the White House on Sept. 24, Politico reported Thursday.
The invitation follows a high-stakes summit on Thursday, in which no trade agreement was made.
During the summit, Xi warned that mishandling the Taiwan issue could lead US-China relations to "a very dangerous place."
