Toyota Tsusho (TYO:8015) has launched a direct shipping service from Japan to Mexico and Canada for auto parts suppliers, avoiding double tariffs that would apply if goods transited through the U.S., Nikkei Asia reported on Friday.
The trading house consolidates products from multiple suppliers into weekly shipments, which go directly to its regional bases before final delivery, with customs clearance handled in-house, the news daily said.
The service cuts logistics costs by 24% for shipments to Canada and 61% for those to Mexico compared to routes via Nagoya, the publication said.
Toyota Tsusho did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
