Toyota Motor (TYO:7203) is standardizing terminology across planning, production, and sales divisions by cutting roughly 195 translation steps, or about 30% of the process, to speed up development, Nikkei Asia reported on Wednesday, citing company executive Toshinao Wada.
The company is developing an integrated system, targeted for completion by 2028, that will use AI to condense 45,000 specialized terms into 5,000 common ones across all divisions, the report said.
The initiative is expected to eliminate the need to translate between different internal terminologies, giving sales staff real-time visibility into production status and making it easier for employees across divisions to collaborate, according to the report.
