Thailand has ordered a temporary pause on 166 data‑centre projects, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas said after a meeting of the data‑centre policy board, local media reported on Saturday.
The temporary pause stems from public concern over the facilities' power use and covers 49 projects under construction and 117 awaiting approval, the reports said
Government agencies will draft nationwide standards on resource use, site selection, safety and economic benefits, and the board has formed four subcommittees to produce rules on economic benefits, infrastructure, locations and the environment within one month, the reports added.
