Thailand's Transport Ministry is set to develop a cruise terminal on Koh Samui worth 12.2 billion baht, under a public-private partnership to support the country's growing cruise tourism sector, The Nation reported Monday, citing the Transport Ministry.
The Marine Department-led project, which is among 262 transport projects planned for 2027, is designed to accommodate up to 400,000 tourists and 240 cruise ship calls annually, the report said.
The terminal will span 47 rai and be developed under a PPP Net Cost model, with the private sector financing construction and operations while the government reimburses infrastructure costs over 10 years. Of the total investment, 12.02 billion baht will come from the private sector and 148.58 million baht from the state, according to the report.
