Tata Power (BOM:500400, NSE:TATAPOWER) expects to commission its first nuclear power plant by 2032 or 2033, Chief Executive Officer Praveer Sinha told Bloomberg Television on Tuesday.
The company aims to begin construction in early 2028, subject to the government finalizing the regulatory framework governing private participation in nuclear power, according to the report.
Sinha reportedly expects the approval process to take about 12 to 14 months.
Tata Power has identified potential project sites in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Gujarat, with geotechnical studies already underway, Bloomberg said.
Tata Power did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
