Taiwan's Cabinet approved the High Speed Rail northern extension between Taipei and Yilan, Focus Taiwan reported Thursday.

The rail project will be 60.6 km long and is estimated to take 11 years to build, with an estimated investment of NT$352.1 billion, the report said, citing Railway Bureau Director-General Young Cheng-chung.
