State-owned Taiwan Power Co. expects its fuel costs for electricity generation to increase by more than NT$120 billion in 2026, Focus Taiwan reported Tuesday, citing Vice President Tsai Chih-meng's statement to reporters.
The forecast is driven by rising global natural gas prices stemming from Middle East tensions, the report said.
The executive said Taipower's monthly fuel expenditure is expected to swell by NT$15 billion in the August to December period if natural gas prices for the power sector remain high, according to the report.
