Starbucks is exploring the sale of a majority stake in its Japan operations, a deal that could value its largest overseas company-operated market at roughly $3 billion, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The Japanese business spans 1,883 stores and represents nearly 9% of the coffee chain's global footprint as of September 2025, with the company having sought pitches from several financial advisers, the news wire said.
The eventual stake size and valuation remain undetermined and subject to negotiation, the publication said.
Starbucks did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
