South Korea is looking to add around 2 gigawatts of solar capacity during the first half of the year, in line with the country's target of 100GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, according to a report by the Pulse on Monday, citing data from the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and Korea Electric Power.
Based on the data, the country has installed 1.8GW of new solar capacity in the first five months of the year, with the ministry targeting to go beyond 2GW by the end of June, the report added.
The country needs to add around 11GW of new solar capacity over the next few years to meet the 100GW target, the report noted.
