Market Chatter: South Korea's Industry Minister to Hold Trade, Investment Talks Ahead of US Tariff Deadline

South Korea's Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan is reported to have departed for Washington on a scheduled visit to the United States from July 22 to 25 to meet US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to discuss investment and bilateral trade issues, Reuters reported Wednesday.

The visit assumes significance as South Korea awaits an expected US decision on additional tariffs under Section 301 of the Trade Act.

The Jung-kwan is also scheduled to hold talks with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright on energy and resource cooperation and will also attend the opening ceremony of the South Korea-US Shipbuilding Partnership Center in Washington.
