SoftBank Corp. (TYO:9434) emerged as the preferred bidder for Tokyo-based private payments service provider SP.LINKS, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The Japanese investment firm is in talks to acquire the 80% stake in SP.LINKS held by Blackstone and the remaining 20% share held by Sony Financial Group's banking arm, the report quoted the sources as saying.
SoftBank and Blackstone did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
