SK hynix (KRX:000660) workers seek to launch an integrated labor union covering half of the company workforce to secure majority-union status at the South Korean semiconductor company, Yonhap News reported Tuesday, citing industry sources.
A temporary preparatory task force plans to file an application to launch a new integrated union with about 18,000 member employees on the same day, the report said.
The company has roughly 35,000 employees, and there are currently three labor unions that negotiate separately with management. The new unified union will help consolidate worker representation in negotiations with the company.
