SK Hynix (KRX:000660) has overtaken Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) as South Korea's most valuable listed company, according to a report by Reuters on Monday.
The supplier of high-bandwidth memory chips has taken advantage of the global AI boom, with its shares trading 5.7% early Monday, to take its market capitalization to around 2.082.5 trillion won, the report said.
According to a senior analyst at Meritz Securities, Kim Sunwoo, the emergence of "customized AI memory" has changed industry mechanics and paved the way for SK Hynix to establish itself as a market leader, the report added.
