Singapore has obtained sufficient liquefied natural gas supplies to compensate for the interruption of imports from Qatar, for the remainder of the year, Singapore Energy Market Authority Chief Executive Puah Kok Keong said on Wednesday in Texas, Reuters reported.
Replacement shipments were bought from Australia, the US, and African suppliers, Keong told Reuters during an interview.
Singapore has the option to resell the replacement cargoes if Qatar is able to resume supplies in the coming months, he said.
The country typically consumes about one cargo per month of LNG from Qatar whose supply accounts for about 10% of natural gas Singapore consumes to generate power.
