Shionogi & Co (TYO:4507) is scouting for at least three acquisition targets in the infectious and rare diseases sector across the U.S., Japan and Europe, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing Chairman and CEO Isao Teshirogi in a recent interview.
The Japanese drugmaker is also weighing U.S. manufacturing expansion to mitigate geopolitical risks over the next decade, Teshirogi said, saying the company has significant financial capacity to fund deals, the news outlet reported.
Last year, Shionogi completed three acquisitions worth a combined 880 billion yen, Reuters said.
