SoftBank-backed (TYO:9984) PayPay and Seven & i Holdings (TYO:3382) are in final talks to integrate their customer data, bringing together over 100 million customers, as part of a loyalty point ecosystem, Nikkei reported Thursday.
Under the deal, data will be integrated after SoftBank and PayPay agree to individually invest about 100 billion yen each in Seven & i, and the transaction will strengthen Seven & i's digital payments business.
Meanwhile, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, a unit of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial (TYO:8316), is also considering participating, with an announcement possible as early as the end of this month.
SoftBank, PayPay and Seven & i did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
