Saudi Aramco has shifted some September crude allocations for Asian term buyers to an ad hoc basis, as regional conflict disrupts exports and raises doubts over their ability to secure tankers, Reuters reported Thursday, citing three sources familiar with the matter.
Saudi Aramco typically gives term buyers monthly allocations around the 10th of each month after loading requests from the customers. Refiners reportedly said few shipowners now risk entering the Strait of Hormuz or Red Sea.
Four Chinese buyers said they had not received September allocations, while three Asian buyers discussed lifting volumes directly with Aramco. An Indian refining source said the refiner received its full allocation but did not consider the volumes firm.
Saudi Aramco did not immediately reply to' request for comment.
