Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) raised prices for some advanced contract chipmaking services by up to 15% for new orders, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing two people familiar with the matter.
The move comes as strong demand for AI chips tightens available capacity, the report said.
The company raised prices for chips manufactured using its 4-nanometer SF4 process by 10% to 15% for customers in China and the US, while prices for Taiwanese customers increased by 5% to 10%. Prices for its 5-nanometer SF5 process also went up by 10% to 15%, the report said.
Shares of Samsung added over 3% in recent trade.
