Memory chips made by Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) and SK Hynix (KRX:000660) will make up more than half of the global semiconductor market in 2026, Yonhap News Agency said Sunday, citing a report from Export-Import Bank of Korea's research center.
The research firm expects the market to grow to more than $1.6 trillion this year, 1.5x higher than an earlier forecast, due to a rapid increase in hyperscalers' investment in AI infrastructure.
Steady demand will drive the market to about $2 trillion by 2030, the report said.
Major tech companies are pushing for long-term supply deals with the South Korea-based memory chip producers, which should drive stability in the semiconductor market, the report said.
