Asian refiners have resumed negotiations for spot US crude cargoes as escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran raise concerns over Middle East oil shipments, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing three executives familiar with the discussions.
Earlier talks had faded as ample Middle East crude supplies reduced demand for additional US cargoes, the report said. Buyers have since returned to the market, although bid and offer prices remain widely apart.
Participants in Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's latest spot crude tender are also weighing lower bids to reflect growing shipping risks and potential demurrage costs as security concerns around the region intensify, the report added, citing two participants.
