Market Chatter: PSMC's Operations, Micron Partnership On Track After Chairman's Death

By

Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing (TPE:6770) said its management team remains stable following the death of founder and Chairman Frank Huang, with Acting Chairman Brian Shieh indicating the company's strategy will continue unchanged, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Shieh said PSMC's partnership with US memory chipmaker Micron remains on schedule. The two companies entered a long-term manufacturing agreement after PSMC sold its P5 fabrication plant in Miaoli County to Micron earlier this year. As part of the agreement, PSMC will perform part of the post-wafer fabrication work for Micron's high-bandwidth memory chips used in AI processors, according to the report.

The company expects a pilot production line by the end of 2026, with mass production targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027, the news agency said.
