Market Chatter: PrismML Runs 27-Billion-Parameter AI Model on iPhone

Startup PrismML has gotten an artificial intelligence model running on an Apple (AAPL) iPhone 17 Pro that is larger than any previous mobile model, The Information reported Thursday, citing the company.

PrismML compressed Qwen 3.6, an open-source large language model with 27 billion parameters from Alibaba (BABA), to less than 4 gigabytes from around 54, the report said.

The model is capable of complex chat, reasoning, autonomous agents and software coding, and will be available for open-source download next week, according to the report.

Apple has held meetings with PrismML about potential uses of its technology as part of the iPhone maker's broader search for acquisitions to expand on-device AI capabilities, The Information reported, citing people familiar with the talks.

PrismML did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
